Children's creative juices get flowing when they are able to take pictures, you will understand what impresses and is important to them. Your child can edit the pictures and videos with fun effects and then email them to family and friends. Through these pictures and videos you as the parent can see the world through your child's eyes.
The Leapfrog Explorer is a handheld base model and comes with a tethered stylus, preset games and video. It has a clear touch display and the interface is kid-friendly. You'll need to grab four AA batteries and a protective case to prevent damage if it is dropped or stepped on. And there is a whole library of extra games to add to the system also.
There are lots of downloadable applications, stories and features to add to the system as your child learns. I have a 2.1 to 3 years and I would like to make an educational game for Christmas. I bought DVD and games. Some of the Leapster games are more advanced, but if you get those starting from Pre-K (3 years) I think it will be easy for them to understand! Age children pick up things very fast, so if the games are the characters that interest I'm sure you will understand very quickly. I think it's the best option you can always get new games for it and not get bored.
